A few weeks ago I was asked to review a sample of clothing from Anatomie. I agreed since as you know, I do a fair bit of traveling and I think I’m getting a little old for my usual Lululemon suits–especially when I’m away on business. The problem is though that I just don’t have time to pack fancy dresses and sit there ironing them in my room. Who has the time? So, when Anatomie told me that their clothing doesn’t wrinkle, I figured, what do I have to lose?
The dress came and I must say, I wear it constantly now, even when I’m not traveling. I can’t speak to the quality of the rest of their clothes but the Monika Short-Sleeve V-Neck Ballerina dress is extremely well made and even more importantly, it’s really flattering. I never thought that it would be, but it’s one of those outfits that every time I wear it, someone compliments the dress. Whoever designed this dress knows exactly where it should hit. It’s also great because it can go from day-to-night. I wear it to work and then will wear it to an event later that night and it totally works. The material is really thick (apparently their fabrics are sourced from Italy and France) and the dress, although cotton and flowy, is not flimsy at all. It’s also really comfortable. And the best part? It doesn’t wrinkle! Anatomie’s clothing is designed for travel—you can ball it up, leave it on the floor, give it your all—these garments will not wrinkle.
My final test was how the dress washed. I am terrible at laundry and embarrassingly send mine out still. What does that mean? Well, it means that most of my clothing is not laundered with care unless I dry clean it. Everything is washed AND dried. I know I shouldn’t do this but I do—and I suspect that there are probably several of you who have no time to be hand-washing garments and air drying them. I live in New York City, I don’t have a clothesline and fresh air to dry my clothes in the sun. I am pleased to say that even under these harsh conditions, the dress has survived about 6 wash and dries so far and it looks totally fine! No pilling, no fading, and when it comes back folded in my laundry bag, it doesn’t wrinkle.
Although Anatomie’s prices aren’t cheap I think that you get what you pay for in this situation. It’s really well-made and I think it’s durable and clearly made to last. Also, it’s designer travel wear and so you pay a premium. But I think you’ll feel like you look nice as opposed to feeling like a slob when you’re traveling, which to me is priceless.

*As I mentioned above, I received a free dress for purposes of this review but all opinions are my own. I get several packages each month and rarely do posts about clothing, because I never think it’s special enough to share*
Over the past two months, Life & Style’s panel of editors, experts and celebrities tested hundreds of products — across 50 different categories — to determine which produced the best and most beautiful results. The list includes everything from gorgeous, affordable lip colors from CoverGirl to a miracle eye cream from Neocutis Lumiere.
What are our celeb panelists’ top picks? “Essie polishes are my favorite! Not only are the colors fun and sexy, but the polish is long-lasting and very durable,” Stacy Kiebler dishes about her go-to nail polish (which is only $8!). And Whitney Port reveals her obsession with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, “The rubber cushion nestles perfectly at the root, and it curls well without bending lashes.” What else will you find in this issue?
Lona Vigi, the woman behind Cameron Diaz’s gorgeous locks, dishes on her favorite hair brush, “I love the Ibiza round brushes with cork handles. They are super lightweight and easy to maneuver,” she tells the mag. And the Frederic Fekkai Salon Anti-Fade Top Coat, “helps lock in color by sealing the cuticle.”
Miley Cyrus’ manicurist, Stephanie Stone swears by Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Top Coat for chip-free, long lasting manicures. “This top coat dries polish in a minute and has UV protection to keep your color bright.”
Jake Bailey (who Katy Perry, Nina Dobrev and Kate Beckinsale have on speed dial!) is obsessed with the Sephora Collection Prestige Luxe Brush Set. “It has the blending power of natural bristles with extra durability and no shedding.”
Dr. Kevin Sands, who gave Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears their million-dollar smiles, chooses the Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean Toothbrush for his clients to “improve gum health in two weeks and whiten in just one.”

The Scotch and Soda Sample Sale started today and had a great roundup if their classic items.
As my regulars know, I don’t often talk about celebrity-inspired fragrances because I usually think they’re…well…stupid. There are few celebs that I would want to smell like. Britney Spears? No thank you! But, I made an exception for my girl, Katy Perry. Yes–I tried her perfume and I liked it…(sung along to her classic song, “I Kissed a Girl”) When I was offered a sample to try out I just couldn’t resist. Sue me. It’s called Killer Queen and it’s created by Lauren Le Guernec of IFF. It’s a sultry scent and I really was surprised how much I enjoyed it. And my husband actually noticed it on me and complimented me!
Here are the deets for you fragrance addicts:
Red Velvet Flower
Natural Jasmine Sambac
Natural Patchouli Heart
Aside from the scent itself, I am obsessed with the bottle. It’s inspired by a queen’s scepter, the distinct jewel-shaped bottle in shades of royal red and gold portrays sexy sophistication and lawless luxury. The faceted bottle rests languorously on its side, and really could be a lovely decoration itself. The regality of the bottle is enhanced with a rich gold crown showcasing a custom crest capturing Katy Perry’s playful essence—regal cats, a music clef, hearts and dagger. Does it remind anyone else of the Elixir of life in Death Becomes Her (classic with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn)?

My regular readers know that I love Smashbox cosmetics in general but that their eye shadows are particularly my favorite because they glide on like magic and have the smooth finish like suede. I’m really loving this season’s palette of neutrals. It starts on the left with the most easily wearable shades for everyday and works its way to the dark colors like a fabu glittery black–perfect for a fierce and fabulous night out. The palette has a range of mattes and shimmers and I love how versatile it is. And it’s the perfect palette for travel–this petite case will fit in any handbag and its range of colors can take you from day to night in the blink of an eye.
I’m also loving this waterproof shadow liner. It lasts all day long without smudging and has a cool color.
