Get Fresh Skin This Spring with Mario Badescu. Plus a Review of the New Botanical Exfoliating Scrub

It’s here! Spring is actually here! We sure earned this one, right? All I want to do is go outside and enjoy the weather. If you’re like me, your skin is grey, dull and dry from the winter.  I have never had dry skin until this winter. It literally just sucked the life out of my skin.

I have been in desperate need of a facial but since we have been redoing our apartment, I have been trying to keep my beauty budget to a minimum. Furniture is expensive, y’all! So I was determined to get the same results of a facial but at home. I had been meaning to go buy some new products but have just been so busy. But you can imagine my excitement when I received a care package from Mario Badescu Skincare in the mail.  Just in time to give myself a spring skin makeover!

If you’re a regular on this blog you know that Mario Badescu rescued my skin when it was at its worse a few years ago. I don’t know what was going on but at age 29 my skin decided that we were 15 again and I had horrible breakouts. After a few sessions with Mario Badescu facialists everything went back into order–of course supplemented by their amazing products. I truly get emotional by how happy it made me to get clear skin back.

So, I digress (shocker). I was able to try out the new Botanical Exfoliating scrub, the enzyme cleansing gel, the rosewater facial spray, the aloe moisturizer, the herbal hydrating serum and the rose hips mask.

The superstar product I am now in love with is the Botanical Exfoliating scrub ($26). All scrubs of course are meant to help you slough away dead skin but this one really leaves my skin looking brighter, feeling smoother and refreshed. It’s star ingredients are Ecuadorian Ivory Palm Seeds, coconut, ginger, green tea, and gingko extracts. The palm seeds are finely ground and with the power of the other energizing botanicals this gel-based cleanser carries away all the dulling dead cells and icky grime you collected during the winter. While it’s effective it’s not harsh like most of the drugstore exfoliants you may find–those leave my skin in worse shape than before I used them. You want the particles to be small and finely ground, just like they are in this scrub. I swear my skin felt like a baby’s bottom it was so supple and smooth after using this scrub.

You are supposed to use the Botanical Exfoliating Scrub 2-3 times a week so the other days I use the Enzyme Gel, which is another one of my favorite products. I love that it doesn’t dry my skin out at all.  After cleansing I follow up first with a spritz of the facial spray with rosewater. It’s a bit indulgent but it makes me feel like I’m actually in a spa versus what is actually happening (I’m just in my bathroom at home). It feels very luxurious and smells amazing. Next, I have been adding a bit of the hydrating serum under my aloe moisturizer (which has SPF 15). I swear my skin went from peeling off to feeling better than ever in just about two weeks.

What is your spring skincare regimen? Let me know in the comments?

I received these products for free to review them for you, my lovely readers. You can’t buy the love here!
