Foods to Get You in the Mood This Valentine’s Day

For celebrity nutritionist and author of The Beauty Detox Solution, Kimberly Snyder, eating right isn’t about dieting and restriction, but feeding your body the beauty-boosting nutrients it craves.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Kim also understands that feeling sexy is just as important as feeling fit, when it comes to boosting your confidence. Physical intimacy is a major factor in maintaining a healthy committed relationship, so don’t let daily stresses get you so bogged  that you don't have time to spend with your loved ones. This Vday, nibble on foods that possess aphrodisiac properties. The most well known sexy foods are champagne and strawberries. An aphrodisiac (named for the goddess of love, Aphrodite) is a food, drink or substance that enhances sexual desire by increasing blood flow, reducing stress or positively affecting neurotransmitters, factors which improve libido. Add these items to your grocery list to kiss your bedroom blahs goodbye, and spice up your love life:

1.      Celery: Not only does this aromatic vegetable have a satisfying crunch, it makes you more physically attractive too. It also contains the chemicals androsterone and adrostenol, which are sexual attractants, and is high in essential nutrients necessary for great sex. All these reasons make drinking your Glowing Green Smoothie an everyday must.

2.      Avocado: This silky fruit established its reputation as an aphrodisiac in the Aztec times. In fact, the Aztecs referred to the avocado tree as “Ahuacuatl,” which means “testicle tree.” Enough said. Slice up an avocado to eat alone or toss it into your next salad.

3.      Almonds: An ancient symbol of fertility since Biblical times, these nuts have a sweet fragrance that may act as a sexual attractant. Almonds are also rich in fiber, vitamin E and beneficial fats, which keep you feeling and looking good.

4.      Chili peppers: This is the ultimate spicy solution for the lovelorn. The capsaicin in peppers heats up body temperature and increases blood flow, while stimulating the brain to release endorphins, the feel-good chemical. Chili peppers also add some physical oomph, plumping lips and causing flushed skin, characteristics that boost your sexual attractiveness. Sprinkle cayenne on soups and stir-fries to get things really cooking, or on top of avocados for a double-dose of desirability.

5.      Honey: Nutrient-rich organic raw honey benefits men and women when it comes to sensuality. Desire is increased in men due to its testosterone-promoting B vitamins, while the boron in honey is used in estrogen production, which is important for female desire. Swap sugar for honey when sweetening your next cup of tea.

Get Celebrity Makeup Looks from the Golden Globes!

Jan 22, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

Now that the Golden Globes are over, we all try and achieve our favorite look of the night to use all year round. Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sue Devitt has the best tips and tricks for you to accomplish your personal favorite that are quick and easy to follow!

Smoky Metallic Cat Eye

Emma Stone’s charcoal and silver colors really accented her wardrobe beautifully, and this look also helped to separate her from the majority who mostly wore nude eye makeup with black eyeliner.

Achieve Emma’s look: Don't be afraid to try metallic's for the eyes and get ready to make a striking impact. The smoky eye is a trend that keeps reinventing itself as it’s synonymous with a sexy beautiful look sought after, season to season. This season, the traditional smoky eye gets a makeover with a pop of silver for a more elegant look.

If you love the idea of a cat eye but can't fully commit to such a bold statement, try this new take – liner across your top lid that ends in a sharp angle out towards your temple, with no other makeup except a sheer pink lip. This look still makes a statement but it is subtler than the original thick–winged line. To get this look apply a precision tip liner, like the New Sue Devitt Defining Eyeliner, along the lash line extending the line just slightly further than usual. For a more defined effect apply the liner around the rim of the eye as well.

Red Lips

Achieve a lip look like Angelina’s by applying lipstick evenly all over lips with a lip brush (for amazingly long lasting color). Then finish by 'buffing' the lips with a Lip Intensifier Pencil, using light feathering strokes around the lip line, blending inwards towards the center. This wow-factor look is classic, dramatic and daring. However, if you’re still unsure about red, practice with a “stain”, instead of a full lip. Blot with a tissue or apply with your fingertips.

Bronze Shadow

Smoky eyes are a red carpet staple these days, and we saw the look in every color, finish, and smokiness. Freida Pinto's bronze shadow and black liner combination which was a real head turner.

Achieve a look like Freida’s by using the Illuminating Eye Shadow Quad in Icelandic Fjord. Begin by applying the Nordic Nude shade all over the eyelid with the Sue Devitt Eye Base Brush.

Sue’s Secret Tip: Hold the brush upside down as you apply as this allows the pigment to get deep into the lash line and build the color upward and outward toward the eyebrow and temple.

Next, use the Refined Eye Base Brush to apply the Deep Moss Shimmer shade only to the eyelid to create desired depth. Again, hold the brush upside down and apply this darker color along the lash line, at the base of the lid, and deep into the lashes. Work the color upwards, grading into the base color as you move upward towards the crease.

Finish the look by applying defining Eyeliner in Vik generously along the lash line, and around the rim of the eye for added definition.

Soda Health Problems and 3 Reasons You Should Stop Drinking It!

Jan 20, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Food and Cocktails!, Health

It's no secret that soda isn't a health food. I mean it's filled with artificial flavors and many are sweetened with either artificial sweeteners or high-fructose corn syrup, which ain't good for you (don't be fooled by those hilarious commercials where they make it seem like a wonderful health food derived from corn). Anyway, check out this article, which lists 3 reasons you should quit drinking the stuff!
